Tik Tok users are writing a Bridgerton musical

Bridgerton is the latest Netflix hit and some talented fans have decided to create a musical based on the Julia Quinn book series adaptation.

The adaptation of the period drama book series has been created by Chris Van Dusen and produced by Shonda Rhimes, and set in the competitive world of Regency London high society’s Ton (from the French ‘le bon ton’ meaning etiquette) when debutantes are presented at court.

The drama follows the Bridgerton family: Lady Bridgerton; her four sons, Anthony, Benedict, Colin and Gregory; and her four daughters, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca and Hyacinth. As well as the Bridgertons are the Featheringtons: Lady Featherington; her husband the Baron; and their three daughters, Philippa, Prudence and Penelope.

TikTok users took to the social app to express their love for the series in lipsync videos, using audio from the show, and making up their own songs to create a Bridgerton musical…

The Bridgerton author, Julia Quinn, caught wind of the musical being written and was pleasantly surprised.

“It’s crazy,” she said. “I mean, somebody’s writing a musical! Have you seen that? And then people are now choreographing it. It’s just beyond imagination. People ask me all the time about when I got the call about optioning it from Shondaland. And I say it never even occurred to me it could happen because nobody did romance. That’s how I kind of feel now — like, it never even occurred to me somebody might write a musical on their own time. All these things are happening; every day there’s something new. This is unbelievable. It’s the type of thing that you can’t help but giggle with laughter over because it’s just so great. You just can’t help but laugh in delight.”
