Galadriel Cast in Amazon’s ‘Lord of the Rings’ TV Series, Reports Suggest

By December 21, 2019Adaptations, News

Amazon’s upcoming Lord of the Rings TV series is one of the most anticipated shows on the horizon, and now it is now being reported that Welsh actress Morfydd Clark has been cast a young Galadriel, who was played by Cate Blanchett in Peter Jackson’s film trilogy.

As Deadline reports, Amazon has yet to officially announce the casting, but sources close to the show’s production have confirmed the casting. However, it’s always best to take these news stories with a pinch of salt, as large scale productions such as this can be subject to change. It had been previously reported that actor Will Poulter was on board with the series, but he has since departed due to scheduling conflicts.

Little is known about Amazon’s upcoming series, except the fact that it has an absolutely whopping budget of around $1.3 billion NZ dollars, making it one of the most expensive TV shows ever made. It will be set some time before the events of The Lord of the Rings and will depict previously unexplored stories based on Tolkien’s legendarium.

The series has already been greenlit for two seasons, and production will begin soon in New Zealand. Here’s hoping we see more of it soon!
