Leave to a Brit to take the brief of talking about banned books and to decide to talk about a banned album instead.
I suppose it is interesting that we the avid readers, who believe that censorship is dangerous when it comes to literature, don’t often carry that sentiment through other areas of our lives.
Do we believe that censorship shouldn’t occur within the music industry? Film? Speech?
The N word? We don’t want books that contain it to be censored, yet would we ever use it in daily conversation? No we censor ourselves to fit to today’s societal norms and niceties (and our own conscience in regards to not wanting to offend or upset another person I would hope).
So, not a book today but still a worthy entry to the Advent calendar.
