Getting children to enjoy reading and being read to at a very young age is so important. If we can instil a love of books into our children then hopefully many of them will carry that love affair on through their teens and into adulthood and a love of reading opens up huge vistas that would otherwise be lost to our younger generations.
Most books use the tried and tested method of a few words and a lot of brightly coloured illustrations to tempt youngsters into their pages but not B.J. Novak, his Book With No Pictures is exactly that a book without any illustrations and yet whenever it is read out to a group of children it immediately has them spellbound and interacting with the reader from start to finish. I wonder what it is about The Book with No Pictures that has children so enamoured? Watch this video and see if you can work it out.
