Bookish Projects for Sewers and Quilters.

Are you any good with a needle and thread? Do you have a passion for quilting? Can you crochet? Are you a Guerilla knitter? Take a look at some of these lovely ideas for yourself or as gifts for bibliophile friends that I found whilst wandering around the world wide web.

We start of course with the wonderful Book Quilt. We’ve seen various versions on our facebook timelines and appearing on Social Media but here’s one with instructions.

Look at this gorgeous Kindle cover. I adore this and I’m going to attempt it myself. How much nicer is this than the standard fare offered for sale.

Did I mention quilts? Are you a Harry Potter fan? Do you want to make a Harry Potter Quilt?

How about a hand sewn book pillow? Something you can personalise, something you can fit to your own decor. The really simple instructions for the one pictured opposite are available here.

This one isn’t free but ohhh I want it so badly. A gorgeous little book cover that has handles! You can walk down the road swinging your book by your side and still have plenty of room for your essentials in your handbag!

And here’s a rather sweet mini quilt, perfect to use as a wall hanging, or a table topper.

What about this adorable Heart Bookmark, a simple project and perfect for a child to make.

Or a crocheted Coraline?

A hand sewn book cover? In this tutorial the book used is a notebook, but if you want to make one for a favourite, slightly tattered novel, who’s to tell you no?

And finally a selection of cross stitched Song of Ice and Fire Quitter Strips. I love these.

I love all of these, and the thing about handmade is, you can alter them to make them your own. Add a cat to your bookshelf quilt, or turn your heart into a cat face, the world’s your oyster.

If you do attempt any of these, or something similar, please send us your pictures to forreadingaddicts@gmail.com
