Book Bus Bookshop Donates Profits to Low Income Schools

Opening bricks and mortar bookshops in today’s uncertain times can be a scary prospect so when Melanie Moore from Cincinnati decided to become a bookseller, she looked for alternatives. After some serious thought, the bookseller took a leap of faith with her husband’s vintage VW cherry farm pick up truck and converted it into a rolling bookshop.

The VW truck transports crates of well loved books and is a welcome sight in and around Cincinnati. The bus doesn’t have a permanent location and is a welcome sight to students and families, offering pedestrians and market-goers a personal and intimate bookselling experience. Many of the books for sale Moore has read personally or purchased while travelling, giving buyers that personal experience as Moore has something to say about every book she sells.

It’s all brilliant, but maybe the best thing about the whole venture is that Melanie Moore donates part of her profits and supplies to local schools, especially those that serve low income areas.
