The Flat Stanley character has been loved by US audiences for many years, but has only recently hit UK shores after the death of author Jeff Brown. Stanley is a boy who becomes flattened by a bulletin board and the books explore the benefits of being completely flat, sliding under locked doors, and even being mailed to his friends in an envelope.
The series has stood the test of time and remained hugely popular with younger readers, selling 30,000 copies in the UK alone last year according to the publisher. Now it’s announced that award winning artist Rob Biddulph is to re-illustrate the entire series.
Jeff Brown’s iconic characters have stood for years, but this reimagining will bring them up to date for a modern audience and is likely to ensure that the Flat Stanley series remains popular with generations to come.
The first of the newly illustrated books, Flat Stanley, Stanley and the Magic Lamp, and Invisible Stanley will be published on July 27th 2017and later in the year on November 2nd Stanley’s Christmas Adventure will be released. Another two titles are then expected in the spring of 2018 continuing Jeff Brown’s legacy for further generations.
