Goodreads lists 76 most popular books of the decade – How many have you read?

For me personally, with the darker winter nights feeling ever longer as we head towards Winter Solstice, yet life sometimes feels hectic as everyone prepares for the festive season. I’ve been thinking about how to spend my time and snuggling up with a good book after a busy day is super appealing right now.

I’ve read a number of books, some popular, some not so much. Deciding on a new book is either thought through or happens completely randomly; from a book swap or a friend for instance. So when I heard about Goodreads Members’ 76 Most Popular Books of the Past Decade, I knew I needed to take a good look through.

I naively expected to have read at least one book on the list, being completely transparent; I actually haven’t. Considering the past decade of popular literature made me feel my age; not a single one of JK Rowling’s’ Harry Potter collection or Jodi Picoult’s House Rules are no longer ‘recently popular’!

I have watched the television version of Margaret Attwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale, so I really fancy reading her eagerly awaited follow-up book The Testaments.

When I feel like reading something lighter I feel like Liane Moriarty’s Big Little Lies will be right up my street, my best friend and I thought the television adaption was absolutely fabulous.

For something brand new, I think I’ll try reading a Sally Rooney book, she has three on the Goodreads Members’ 76 Most Popular Books of the Past Decade list to choose from: Conversations with Friends followed on by Normal People and Beautiful World, Where Are You.

There’s a whole array of genres and authors to choose from, whatever your preference. Trevor Noah’s biography about growing up in South Africa through Apartheid, having experienced some of South Africa during travel, this one really appeals.

Computer Games or Sci-Fi more your thing? Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin, Red Rising by Pierce Brown and Dark Matter by Blake Crouch all featured on the list as well.
So whatever you love to read about, I’m sure you’ll find something you can get your reading eyes stuck into over the next few months.
