Hit of the Lits – FRA Top 40
Each month we ask our For Reading Addicts community to let us know what their favourite reads were and then compile our very own monthly chart; this month we had an excellent response from you with over 100 books suggested. From that list, and according to your votes we have a Top 40 Books for June and as always it’s an eclectic bunch.
Get your wish lists ready and start noting down these titles, I’m sure there are going to be plenty of new books you’ll want to add from this top 40.
1
The Nightingale – Kristin Hannah
Consistently present in our Top 40, The Nightingale climbs two places to top our chart for June and is very highly recommended by our followers.
2
End of Watch – Stephen King
A brand new release, and of course therefore a brand new entry into our charts is this, the final and long awaited book in the Bill Hodges Trilogy.
3
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children – Ransom Riggs
Bouncing back into our charts this month at number 3 is Ransom Riggs’ Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children the first in a nail bitingly good trilogy.
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children US
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children UK
4
The Fireman – Joe Hill
Another brand new release and another new entry into our charts; the world is on fire and what do we need when the world is burning? A Fireman of course.
5
The Little Paris Bookshop – Nina George
And yet another new entry at number 5 with this 2013 release of a beautiful book about a beautiful little bookshop on a barge boat on the Seine.
6
The Maze Runner (series) – James Dashner
This seems to be one of those perennial series reads, appearing in every poll it could possibly fit into and mentioned in every single #whatIamreading thread Thomas and his friends leaps into our Top 40 at number 6.
7
Kingkiller Chronicle – Patrick Rothfuss
Another much loved and oft revisited series is the fictional autobiography of Kvothe, an adventurer and famous musician as he tells the story of his life to Devan Lochees.
Kingkiller Chronicle – The Name of the Wind #1 US
Kingkiller Chronicle – The Name of the Wind #1 UK
8
Me Before You – Jojo Moyes
This book is everywhere, surely every single person on the planet has at least two copies of it by now. They must have for it to still be appearing in the top ten so often, this month sees a drop of 7 places to number 8 so maybe the bubble has finally burst.
9
The Golem of Hollywood – Jesse and Jonathan Kellerman
A new entry from a father and son team, this book seems to fill all genres at once; crime, thriller, horror, supernatural; they’re all in there. This is the first in a new detective series, so it looks like it’s a good choice for those who like continuity in their literature.
10
Coraline – Neil Gaiman
Our final entry for the featured top ten is from the delectably dark Neil Gaiman, Coraline’s other mother is everything Coraline wants, and more, oh so very much more. Shudder.
