A Cornish hotel, as seen in the original 1990 movie adaptation of The Witches, is looking to hire a Grand High Witch.
The Headland Hotel overlooks Fistral Beach in Newquay, Cornwall, and is best known as the setting for Roald Dahl’s The Witches starring Anjelica Huston. They are now on the look for someone to play the part of Grand High Witch and frighten the guests during their stay.
The person chosen to play the Grand High Witch would be able to impersonate the witch, including her key phrases from the book and movie. The role will be offered to those with a talent for theatrical performance, and with the confidence to interact with both adult and child guests.
“The Witches is close to our hearts here at The Headland and every October, we like to celebrate the film with a spooky Afternoon Tea tribute,” said Hotel director Veryan Palmer.
“This year we’d like a Grand High Witch who will evoke the spectacular effect that Anjelica Huston created for her role of the Grand High Witch in Roald Dahl’s The Witches.”
The only clothing you will need for the job is a suitable black outfit as the hotel will provide the mask and cape.
