At the start of each month we take a nostalgic look back at the new releases of the past and the books we’ve loved over the last five decades. The year is flying by and spring is in the air as we move into April, and now it’s time for another look back over 50 years of literature with five decades of April releases.

Maybe you read some of these as they were released, or maybe we can offer some inspiration for the TBR today. Here are fifty years of April releases.

April 2007

The Harlequin Tea Set is a collection of nine short stories by Agatha Christie put together posthumously from a collection of her works. It was first published on 14th April 1997.

April 1987

Einstein’s Monsters – Martin Amis

The subject of nuclear warfare was hot in the 1980s and there was lots of fiction written around the subject. One such book is a collection of short stories from Martin Amis, five short stories all on the subject of nuclear weapons, first published on April 30th 1987.

It’s the 50th anniversary year of The Outsiders this year, published in April 1967 the novel has cult status and is as popular today as when it was published, 50 years ago.
