An email from a research group has been circulating offering readers payment for every book they read. Although it seems too god to be true, this is in fact a legitimate job offer.
WordsRated is a research data and analytics group who provide entertaining and informative data on literature, authors, and reading. The company have been involved with big names like World Athletics, The BBC and The New York Times.
The email states they are looking for passionate individuals who love reading to become a Bibliophile-at-large and get paid a whopping $200 per book read!
The job is a very attractive one for those with a voracious appetite for books. The position of Bibliophile-at-large requires someone who can devour “hundreds of pages with ease while paying attention to detail”.
The company is a data research group so the applicant will need to have the same analytical brain, able to pick up on specific detail, and take notes on the following:
- Number of characters by gender
- Number of sentences given to male vs. female characters
- Locations where the story takes place
- Which books are characters reading or being referenced
- Number of certain words or phrases
- How many questions were asked in the book
- What animals are appearing in the book
All the information collected will be used in studies and statistics for WordsRated.
$200 is paid to the Bibliophile-at-large for every book they read and analyse, and it is completely at their own leisure. Of course, the more you read and complete, the more you get paid.
