Michelle Obama’s Becoming Nominated for a Grammy

In 2018, former first lady of the United States, lawyer and feminist powerhouse, Michelle Obama published her memoir Becoming. The book quickly became a bestseller and according to Bertelsmann SE, the German conglomerate that has a controlling stake in Obama’s publisher Penguin Random House, the book surpassed 10 million copies sold in March this year.

“I’m not aware, in my personal experience with Penguin Random House, that we ever sold 10 million units of a memoir,” chief executive Markus Dohle told The Wall Street Journal earlier this year.

Now, Michelle Obama can add another accolade to the long-list of amazing things she’s achieved. This time it’s a Grammy nomination for the audiobook version of her memoir, under the category of Best Spoken Word Album.

Alongside Michelle Obama’s Becoming, also nominate for the category of Best Spoken Word Album (includes poetry, audiobooks and storytelling) are;
Beastie Boys Book — (Various Artists) Michael Diamond, Adam Horovitz, Scott Sherratt and Dan Zitt, producers
I.V. Catatonia: 20 Years As A Two-Time Cancer Survivor — Eric Alexandrakis
Mr. Know-It-All — John Waters
Sekou Andrews & The String Theory — Sekou Andrews & The String Theory

The winners of the 62nd Grammy Awards will be announced 26th January 2020, when we will find out whether Michelle Obama’s Becoming audiobook has won its category. Until then, why not listen to the Grammy-nominated memoir?
