Author Emily Ruskovich has won the world’s largest prize for a single novel after one library nominated her debut novel Idaho for the 2019 International Dublin Literary Award (formerly known as the IMPAC). The winner receives a whopping prize of €100,000.

Books find themselves on the longlist for the International Dublin Literary Award by being nominated by public libraries in cities across the world. As The Guardian reports, Idaho was nominated by a single library in in Bruges, Belgium, and was selected out of 141 other contenders.
In an interview with The Guardian, Ruskovich said: “It’s such a shocking amount of money to have won! I can’t believe there is a prize like this for a single novel. I don’t know exactly what I’ll do with it but I feel I can now make choices that will ultimately really benefit my writing. It’s been the biggest honor of my life having a book out in the world and having readers.”
