Dan Harmon is best known for creating the hugely popular cartoon Rick and Morty which deals with philosophical ideas through the lens of a naive young boy named Morty going on adventures through space with his alcoholic, cynical grandfather named Rick. With season three well in its way, it seems Harmon is now working on a television adaptation of Kurt Vonnegut’s novel The Sirens of Titan.
As reported by the A.V. Club, the show is being produced by Harmon for Universal Cable Productions and Harmon is working alongside Evan Katz, who’s best known for producing the hit show 24. The show is yet to choose a network but no doubt such talent will attract a lot of attention.
The Sirens of Titan was first published in 1958 and follows the richest man on Earth during a Martian invasion. The book’s themes includes that of free will, omniscience, and the purpose of humanity, similar to themes Harmon and his team have included in Rick and Morty. We look forward to seeing what he can do with such material and hopefully it will hit our screens sooner rather than later. Who would you like to see cast as the main characters?
