If you didn’t already know (have you been hiding under a rock?) this year celebrates twenty years since the release of the very first book in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. This October, the British Library is celebrating with an exhibition to open on 20th October and with it comes two new books about the series!
The exhibition will open on 20th October 2017 at the British Library in London, celebrating the anniversary of the release of the very first Harry Potter book.
The event will include wizarding books, magical objects and material from Rowling’s archive, allowing fans of the book to meet Fawkes the Phoenix as he’s brought to life in the Care of Magical Creatures section. The British Library’s curators also plan to include a section of historical manuscripts and mythology in the exhibit, connecting the magical traditions and inspiration for the series.
Not everyone will be able to get along to the exhibition and if you can’t make it to the British Library then we still have some great news for you, as on 20th October, planned to coincide with the event, two new books will be released from the magical world.
Harry Potter: A History of Magic will be a coffee table book and it will feature Rowling’s original drafts of the novels and essays about the exhibition. The second book, Harry Potter: A Journey Through a History of Magic will expand the wizarding world further, featuring stories about witches, magical creatures and more!
