The Sony Interactive Tabletop Just Changed the Reading Game

By September 2, 2016Children's Literature, News

There’s nothing quite like getting lost in a book, but imagine if you could take all those old illustrations, literally lift them off the page and bring them to life! This isn’t sci-fi, but it may be where reality meets science fiction as the Sony Interactive TableTop, brings objects to life.

Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland is the book used in the video, and as you can see the Interactive TableTop allows you to ‘pick up’ illustrations from the book and move, interact and play with them. Augmented reality is huge this year with the launch of Pokemon Go and interactivity is reaching entire new levels.

The Sony Interactive TableTop is likely to change the game of reading, and while it may not be of huge interest to diehard readers, children, lovers of graphic fiction, and those who love technology as much as books are likely to love it!

It’s not available to the public yet as each device would cost tens of thousands, but the technology is there and it’s likely to hit the market eventually!
