Steps singer releases Pride children’s book

Singer Ian ‘H’ Watkins – best known for performing in the pop group Steps alongside Lisa Scott-Lee, Claire Richards, Lee Latchford-Evans, and Faye Tozer – is publishing his first children’s book. Pride & the Rainbow warriors is an LGBTQ+-affirming children’s book written by début author H and illustrated by David Gregory.

“This beautiful story celebrates love, kindness and the power of being proud to be YOU! Told through a magical adventure inspired by the meaning behind every colour of the Pride flag. Perfect read for families, allies and rainbow warriors of all ages,” explains the official Steps Instagram, in a post celebrating their group mate’s achievement.

The publisher, Atebol Cyfyngedig, adds: “Being different is your superpower! Pride a safe space that allows people to be open about themselves without being judged by others as they celebrate what makes them unique. Join the Rainbow Warriors on their journey as they teach readers of all ages the definition, history and importance of Pride and what it means to be included in the LGBTQ+ community.”

The book is available to pre-order, and it publishes on 17th June, during Pride Month. Signed copies are available direct from the publisher.

Ian ‘H’ Watkins himself explained: “This isn’t just a book, this is a message to everybody who has ever felt different…. This is the book that I wish I had when I was growing up and it’s the one I am so proud to read with my children.”
