7 Gripping Books to try if You Loved BBC’s “The Missing”

By December 1, 2016December 11th, 2018Television

It seems the whole country has been gripped for weeks on Harry and Jack William’s fantastic BBC crime drama, The Missing. The show started in season one last year with the disappearance of Oliver Hughes, but it was always Tcheky Karyo playing Detective Julien Baptiste who was the star of the show.

Season two brought Baptiste back, this time on the case of a missing girl, or several in the end and it was gripping, exciting and full of twists right to the last scene. If you’ve been as gripped on the show as I have, and you’re already missing your “The Missing” fix then today we have some suggested reads for fans of the show! Get ready for a rollercoaster and more twists and turns that you could imagine.

Room – Emma Donaghue

Shutter Island – Dennis Lehane

The Missing was brilliant in that you never knew when the next twist was coming, and Shutter Island certainly meets this criteria! It’s 1956 and U.S. Marshall Teddy Daniels and his new partner, Chuck Aule have arrived at maximum-security Ashecliffe Hospital for the criminally insane, where they’re sent to investigate the improbable disappearance of inmate Rachel Solando. All is not as it seems and madness and twists aplenty ensue.
