We started at 1918, bringing you the bestselling books of the last one hundred years. We’re moving along now, covering each year at a time and already up to the 1940s where today we take a look at the bestselling books of 1941.
1941 was dominated by World War II. Germany invaded Poland, 10,072 men, women and children with mental and physical disabilities are asphyxiated with carbon monoxide in the first phase of mass killings by the Nazis, The V for Victory sign is first used as a form of resistance, and in better news Joe DiMaggio’s 56-game hitting streak begins for the New York Yankees.
So here they are, the ten top selling books of 1941 as war gripped the world. We’ve also included some well known books that didn’t make the list.
1941 also saw the release of Vladimir Nabokov’s, The Real Life of Sebastian Knight.
