We started at 1918, bringing you the bestselling books of the last one hundred years. We’re moving along now and we’re into the 1970s as today we cover the bestselling fiction of 1971.
In 1971, Intel released the world’s first micro-processor, heralding the start of the digital age, while the Walt Disney World Resort opens in Florida in the US. In the UK the entire currency changes as decimalisation comes in. On the other side of the world, India and Pakistan break into war, in a move that will lead to the creation of Bangladesh.
Among all that, there were plenty of books published and read too, and today we’re featuring the bestselling novels of 1971, and some that didn’t make the list but have stood the test of time.
1970 also saw the release of The Complete Stories of Flannery O’Connor .
We’ll continue this series right through to 2018, keep an eye out for 1972, coming soon!
