We started at 1918, bringing you the bestselling books of the last one hundred years. We’ve had a bit of a pause, so sorry about that, I guess the pandemic is likely to appear on a blog like this in the future when we discuss the books of 2020. However, for now, we’re at 2008 so not long to go and here we have that year’s bestsellers.
2008 saw two major political events. Firstly Fidel Castro retired as leader of Cuba after many years due to ill health, changing the political landscape of Cuba forever, and later in the same year Barack Obama became the first African-American president of the United States.
Among all that there were plenty of books published too. So here they are, the ten top selling books of 2008. We’re also featuring some well known books that didn’t make the cut!
2008 also saw the release of Aravind Adiga’s The White Tiger, which won the Booker Prize that year.
We’ll continue this series right through to 2018, keep an eye out for 2009, coming soon!
