We started at 1918, bringing you the bestselling books of the last one hundred years. We’ve had a bit of a pause, so sorry about that, I guess the pandemic is likely to appear on a blog like this in the future when we discuss the books of 2020. However, for now, we’re at 2009 so not long to go and here we have that year’s bestsellers.
2009 saw Slumdog Millionaire sweep the board at the Golden Globes, and saw the event that became known as the miracle on the Hudson as Chesley Sullenberger lands US Airways Flight 1549 on the Hudson River shortly after takeoff from LaGuardia Airport in NYC.
Among all that there were plenty of books published too. So here they are, the ten top selling books of 2009. We’re also featuring some well known books that didn’t make the cut!
2009 also saw the release of Hilary Mantel’s Wolf Hall, and The Year of the Flood by Margaret Atwood.
We’ll continue this series right through to 2018, keep an eye out for 2010 and the final decade, coming soon!
