Based on the true story of Polish zookeepers Jan and Antonina Zabinski the Zookeeper’s Wife written by Diane Ackerman begins as the couple’s Warsaw zoo is bombed and follows their determination to save as many people from the Nazis as possible.
Determined to save over 300 people the Zabinskis would hide the refugees in animal cages, giving them animal names and giving their animals human names. It’s no wonder that their home became known by the code name “The House Under a Crazy Star.” Written from the point of view of Antonina this film adaptation of the best selling novel stars Jessica Chastain and Daniel Brühl and after watching the trailer for the Zookeeper’s Wife I can’t wait for its release.
