Social media went into meltdown last night as Tom Hardy sat down with his dog on the CBeebies couch and read the bedtime story. We brought you the news when it was announced a few weeks ago, and much of what we got back were laments from those from non-BBC countries.

Tom plays many a hard man in his movie roles, including playing both Kray brothers for the movie Legend, but on New Year’s Eve he proved that he has a gentle side too as he sat on the CBeebies sofa with his pet labrador and read this magical tale to the nation’s children (and a few mums too).
