Word of the Day – Nefarious

By November 2, 2016Word of the Day

Nefarious (adj)

ni-f-air-e-us

(typically of an action or activity) wicked or criminal.

I always picture a Fagin type when I hear of someone being nefarious, I think the word has a particularly Dickensian feel about it.

Example sentences

“I know I sure wouldn’t like to meet such dangerous and nefarious characters down a dark alleyway.”

“He has only risen to such dizzying heights through past nefarious activities.”
