Especially in Tunisia and elsewhere in North Africa: a filo pastry, often triangular in form, with a savoury filling.
1930s; earliest use found in American Poultry Journal. From Maghribi Arabic (especially Tunisia) brik, ultimately (perhaps via other varieties of spoken Arabic) from Ottoman Turkish būrek.
