Geotic (adj) (rare)

jee-ot-ik

Of or relating to the earth; terrestrial; geological.

Mid 18th century; earliest use found in Samuel Johnson. Probably originally a misapprehension of geotic, variant of (or error for) goetic, but taken by Johnson in the sense ‘of or belonging to the earth’ by association with geo-, and hence used contextually.
