We try and bring you at least one new release blog every single month, and with that come lots of suggestions of new books to read, from various authors. Often those lists will contain debut novels, but this month we’re spoiled for reliable choice as some of the best known current authors in the world are releasing books!
September sees new releases from global sensations such as Stephen King, Margaret Atwood, and Ann Patchett. New novels from firm favourites like Rick Riordon, Cecilia Ahern, and Jessie Burton. It’s like the Oscars for new releases, with all our favourites in a designer dress (We’d love to see that, Stephen King!).
So without further ado, here are September’s new releases from authors we already love.
The Testaments – Margaret Atwood
10th September, 2019
Thanks to the television adaptation, A Handmaid’s Tale has been one of the most talked about books of the year. When the sequel, set years in the future, was announced earlier this year, fans were delighted.
The Institute – Stephen King
10th September, 2019
This dramatic offering from King has been long awaited and many fans will already have it on pre-order. It’s already received high praise from G. R. R. Martin! A psychic thriller in true King style, this is a guaranteed bestseller.
The Dutch House – Ann Patchett
24th September, 2019
Ann Patchett is one of the best female authors of our time, and fans will be thrilled to know there’s a new novel coming later this month. The Dutch House starts at the end of World War II, and spans five decades, a novel of love and truly seeing ourselves, and suspenseful enough to keep your turning those pages.
The Tyrant’s Tomb – Rick Riordan
24th September, 2019
Rick Riordan is one of the bestselling children’s authors of our time, and his Trials of the Apollo series is on to its fourth book, The Tyrant’s Tomb, out later this month.
Akin – Emma Donaghue
10th September, 2019
Emma Donaghue has already won several literary awards and is one of the bestselling contemporary authors. After hitting the big time with Room, several novels have followed and Akin is out on 10th September. A funny, gut-wrenching tale about an old man and a young boy born two generations apart.
Postscript – Cecilia Ahern
19th September, 2019
Cecilia Ahern has become synonymous with fairy tales for grown ups, and her own brand of magical realism, but her first literary success was PS, I Love You. Earlier this year, a sequel was announced, and that’s coming later this month.
The Confession – Jessie Burton
September 19th, 2019
Last year we announced that Jessie Burton was writing two new children’s books, there’s no news of them yet but her new novel The Confession is out later this month and promises to be a tale of how to lose yourself, to find yourself.
The World That We Knew – Alice Hoffman
24th September, 2019
We love Alice Hoffman here at FRA, and later this month comes her new novel, a story of loss and resistance, set during Europe’s darkest hours during World War II. This is guaranteed to be a bestseller.
