This month marks Book People’s 30th birthday, and the company isn’t about to let such a landmark pass it by without some serious celebrating which will include prizes, events, and competitions for both staff and customers.

As The Book Seller reports, the celebrations begin this September and there will be a range of book-themed competitions for customers to join in with. The prizes on offer range from books and gifts from Book People, as well as items from the company’s publishing partners such as a Mr Men and Little Miss hamper, signed prints from children’s illustrators, and the opportunity for parents to have their child’s name featured as a character in the next Rainbow Magic book.

Book People is also going to be releasing guest blog posts, videos, inforgraphics, and hosting Facebook Live events with authors. The company’s staff will also be working to raise money for Book People’s partner charity, Save The Children, with fundraising events being hosted throughout the year.

Boo People was founded in 1988 by Ted Smart and Seni Glaister. They would deliver hand-picked books straight to customer’s in the Guildford area of the UK. The business went national after only two years and by the 1990’s, the business launched an online store and a mail order catalogue.

“I am so proud to be part of a business that is focused on making books accessible to everyone – in their homes, their workplaces and their schools – and has been for 30 years. We can’t wait to celebrate our 30th birthday with our customers, our publishing partners and our staff – it will be so much fun,” said Sarah Walden, group buying and merchandising director.
