J. K. Rowling and Stan Lee inducted into Sci-Fi and Fantasy Hall of Fame

J. K. Rowling has been named as one of the writers to be inducted into the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame along with Marvel grandaddy Stan Lee.

The hall of fame for sci-fi and fantasy has been going since 1996 and Lee will be the first comic book writer to be included. Both he and Rowling have made a significant impact on the world of pop culture this past decade, with a stream of books and movies and an ever-expanding universe for both Marvel and the Potter fandom.

J. K. Rowling has had such a fantastic last few years that it is no wonder her named cropped up for this honour. Her book series about the boy wizard Harry Potter, was (and still is) hugely successful and the wizarding world is now a major film franchise.

MoPOP notes how the best-selling author “has received five honorary degrees from various institutions including the University of Edinburgh and Harvard University, and has won numerous awards including the Hugo Award and the National Book Awards Children’s Book of the Year.”

MoPop spoke of the creator of the Marvel legacy: “One of the most influential comic book writers of all time, Stan Lee is responsible for the creation of numerous Marvel Comics characters including Spider-Man, Black Panther, and the X-Men…Lee’s characters and storylines have appeared across all types of media including animated series, video games, television shows, and the long-standing Marvel Cinematic Universe. A self-proclaimed frustrated actor, Lee has made a cameo in every Marvel film to date.”
