Neil Patrick Harris Announces That the Final Season for ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ Has Finished Filming

Last year, Netflix released the first season of its adaptation of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. The show was well received upon its debut and many fans praised Neil Patrick Harris’ portrayal of the evil Count Olaf. The second season was released earlier this year in March and the third and final series is set to be released next year.

Neil Patrick Harris has revealed that the final series has finished filming and stated on Twitter that he’ll miss playing the wildly eccentric Count. “Can’t believe that tomorrow is my last day as Count Olaf,” he wrote. “For over two years I’ve gotten to play in the most creative, visual, challenging, fantastical sandbox of my career. I’m super proud and will miss it greatly.”

The final season will cover the last four books in Snicket’s series, The Slippery Slope, The Grim Grotto, The Penultimate Peril, and The End. It will see the Baudelaire children travel to the bottom of the ocean, the top of a mountain, and to an island cult.

No doubt the release of series three will be bittersweet for fans of the books and the show, but it looks like Netflix wants to see its adaptation remain true to the books and not outstay its welcome.
