Netflix, one of the leading streaming platforms for films and limited series, is known for its many adaptations of literary works. Now, they have launched a new hub dedicated to book-to-screen productions.
The new genre, much like others already listed on the platform such as ‘Bingeworthy Drama Series and ’30-Minute laughs’ offers suggestions to watchers based on their previous watching habits. However, the difference with these suggestions is that they are all based on a book; whether a work of fiction like Sally Rooney’s Normal People and Conversations with Friends or a work of non-fiction such as Boots, based on the memoir The Pink Marine by Greg Cope White.
Netflix’s team of curators have reportedly built a special experience, organised around nine distinct reader types that are reflective of the diversity of readers:
‘You Crave Amazing Characters’ includes titles such as: Dumplin, Tales of the City, and The Queen’s Gambit.
‘You’re into Immersive World-Building’ includes titles such as: The Vampire Diaries, Ladies First, and Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire.
‘You Love a Great Plot Twist’ includes titles such as: Killing Eve, You, and Ratched.
‘You Savor Swoonworthy Romances’ includes titles such as: Bridgerton, My Life with the Walter Boys, and One Day.
‘You’re a Nonfiction Fanatic’ includes titles such as: Shrill, Madam, and Everything I know About Love.
‘You’re a History and Period Piece Buff’ includes titles such as: The Decameron, Harlots, and Poldark.
‘You Adore All-Ages Adventures’ includes titles such as: A Series of Unfortunate Events, Nanny McPhee, and The Worst Witch.
‘You Collect Manga and Comics’ includes titles such as: The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity, The Apothecary Diaries, and Black Clover.
‘You’re Wild About Web Stories’ (the titles in this category do not appear at the time of writing).

Built on our recently redesigned experience and the success of earlier fan-inspired collections, such as ‘Your Zodiac Watchlist,’ ‘Watch Your Favorite Books’ brings together our library of book-inspired entertainment into one engaging, immersive space, making it fun and exciting to find what to watch next based on your personal taste and reading style.”
‘Watch Your Favorite Books’ is now available on the Netflix homepage and via search, after launching at the beginning of June.
