By November 26, 2019Adaptations, News

Originally published by famed American author Jack London in 1903, Call of the Wild tells the story of a pampered young dog named Buck who’s comfortable life in California is turned upside down when he finds himself sold and forced to work as a sled dog during the Klondike Gold Rush. The novel chronicles Buck’s journey as he transforms from a soft, domesticated canine into a hardened sled dog in touch with his wild nature. London’s book has since become a modern classic and fans of the novel will be pleased to learn that a film adaptation is set to be released later this year and stars Harrison Ford, the first trailer has also been released.

The upcoming film is set to be released on February 21 and sees Harrison Ford portray the character of John Thornton. Dan Stevens will appear as Hal, Colin Woodell will take on the role of Charles, and Karen Gillan has been cast as Mercedes. The film will be directed by Chris Sanders who previously directed How to Train Your Dragon and has worked on a number of Disney titles such as The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin. Here’s hoping it lives up to London’s novel.
