David Tennant has been cast in the new adaptation of Around the World in 80 Days coming to the BBC.

The Doctor Who and Good Omens star takes on the role of Phileas Fogg in the Jules Verne’s classic novel, and the first-look pictures show him looking perfect for the part!

Images first shown by the Radio Times show Tennant as Fogg with a smart moustache and sharp suit, with of his companions Passepartout, played by Ibrahim Koma, and Abigail Fix, played by Leonie Benesch.

The 8-episode series had been delayed thanks to the COVID-19 restrictions, but finally finished filming in March of this year. A teaser trailer has been release showing Tennant announce his plans to his peers only to be greeted with scoffs and laughs. The trailer then continues with Fogg introducing the two travelling with him, “My companions, Abigail Fix and Passepartout. Let the adventure begin!”

The series looks like it will be an exciting and funny adventure with great costuming, amazing sets, and textbook Tennant charisma. A date has not yet been announced but it is assumed to be released before the end of 2021, with a later release date for America.
