Monstrous horror series coming soon to Hulu

By May 28, 2019Adaptations, News

Hulu is adding another adaptation to their roster and this time it is SCARY.

An eight-episode long contemporary horror anthology has been commissioned by the Disney-owned streaming service and is currently being filmed. The new series is based on author Nathan Ballingrud’s collected work of short stories, North American Lake Monsters.

The series, created and written by Mary Laws (Preacher), will draw us into a world of vampires, angels, and monsters that make Louisiana mortals re-examine their lives.

Horror duo Lucan Toh and Babak Anvari (Wounds) are expected to executively produce the series with Anvari also directing for Annapurna Television.

Hulu says the series will explore the plights of townfolk “driven to desperate acts in an attempt to repair their lives, ultimately showing there is a thin line between man and beast.” With stories featuring “encounters with Gothic beasts, including fallen angels and werewolves.”

Hulu cleverly hired horror-story talent to bring the anthology to life and is hitting the ground running with their choice of series. They are in good company too with Netflix’s Black Mirror, CBS’s The Twilight Zone, HBO’s Room 104, Amazon’s Electric Dreams, all doing exceedingly well for their respective companies.

We will let you know when we have more details on the upcoming horror anthology.
