‘The Boy, The Mole, The Fox, and The Horse’ is Coming to the BBC

The Boy, The Mole, The Fox, and The Horse will be coming to the BBC this Christmas.

The bestselling story by Charlie Mackesy will be shown on BBC One and the BBC iPlayer as an animated short film.

The intention is to bring to life the captivating illustrations by Charlie Mackesy through hand-drawn traditional animation.

The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse is a poignant tale, perfect for a Christmas animation, following the friendship of the title characters they go on a journey to search for the boy’s home.

An award-winning cast of actors bring the tale to life: Tom Hollander plays ‘the mole’, Idris Elba is ‘the fox’, Gabriel Byrne as ‘the horse’ and Jude Coward Nicoll is ‘the boy’.

 

Author and illustrator Charlie Mackesy explains: “The journey of making the film of The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse with my ridiculously talented and kind animation team has been a magical one. It’s so great to think the story will be in the nation’s homes this Christmas – and I really hope it helps bring comfort, love and laughter.”
