‘Where The Crawdads Sing’ movie adaptation to be released by Netflix

Where the Crawdads Sing, originally written by Delia Owens, is coming to Netflix as a movie adaptation.

The story follows a young girl, Kya, who grows up in a shack in the North Carolina marshlands. Kya create a life for herself despite being an outsider, surviving a difficult life.  Trouble comes, however, when the body is discovered, and Kya becomes the prime suspect.

Where the Crawdads Sing is a coming of age tale entwined with crime drama, and, ultimately, a story of hope and resilience.

The movie is planned for production by Sony, and will be released on Netflix in July 2022.

The cast includes Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People) as Kya, Harris Dickinson (The King’s Man) as Chase Andrews, David Strathairn (Lincoln) as Tom Milton, and Talyor John Smith (Lost Child) as Tate Walker.

Sony has joined Gabler in a partnership to produce the film. Gabler brought us other book adaptations such as Life of Pi, Hidden Figures, and A Devil Wears Prada.
