A hand written poem by Anne Frank has been auctioned for €140,000 (£119,000), which is more than four times the poem’s reserve price. The poem was won by an anonymous online bidder and the auction itself lasted only two minutes at the Bubb Kuyper auction house in the Dutch city of Haarlem.

As The Guardian reports, only a few of Frank’s writings have ever been on sale before. The auction house’s co-director, Thijs Blankevoort, said: “Over the last 40 years, only four or five documents signed by the teenager have gone under the hammer.”

It has been reported that the Anne Frank House museum in Amsterdam did not bid for the poem because it did not reveal much about Anne herself. A spokeswoman for the museum said that it was “very special that part of an Anne Frank collection comes out after so many years.”

A rough translation of the poem reads:

Dear Cri-Cri,
If you did not finish your work properly,
And lost precious time,
Then once again take up your task
And try harder than before.
If others have reproached you
For what you have done wrong,
Then be sure to amend your mistake.
That is the best answer one can make.
In memory, from Anne Frank
