Originally published in 1933 by the English writer Aldous Huxley, Brave New World is a dystopian novel which tells the story of a utopian society that is threatened by the arrival of an outsider named John. Fans of the books will be pleased to learn that a TV adaptation is currently underway, and Alden Ehrenreich, who played the titular character in the Star Wars film Solo has been cast as the lead.
As Deadline reports, the show was originally developed by SyFy as a straight-to-series show that has been picked up by USA Network. The show is high budget and rumours are abound that it is intended to be the flagship show for the upcoming NBCU streaming platform that’s set to launch in 2020.
The adaptation has been penned by David Wiener, Grant Morrison and Brian Taylor and Ehrenreich will portray the outsider John the Savage. This will mark the first time Ehrenreich has taken on a major TV role and we certainly hope that this adaptation will live up to the source material. Brave New World, along with George Orwell’s 1984, is considered one of the finest dystopian novels ever written and is widely regarded as a modern classic.
