We started at 1918, bringing you the bestselling books of the last one hundred years. We’re moving along now and we’re into the 1970s as today we cover the bestselling fiction of 1975.
In 1975, a global recession deepened and inflation continued to spin out of control. In the UK, the price of petrol increased by 70% in a single year. Bill Gates and Paul Allen created Microsoft, and hobby computers start to appear in people’s homes, while the war between VHS and Betamax began.
Among all that, there were plenty of books published and read too, and today we’re featuring the bestselling novels of 1975, and some that didn’t make the list but have stood the test of time.
1975 also saw the release of Samuel L Delany’s Dhalgren.
We’ll continue this series right through to 2018, keep an eye out for 1976, coming soon!
