The literary industry is to be recognised in the Queen’s birthday honours as both Tim Waterstone and Kazuo Ishiguro are knighted.
Tim Waterstone, founder of the eponymous book shop chain has been recognised with a knighthood for services to bookselling and charity. Author Kazuo Ishiguro has also received a knighthood for services to literature.
Ishiguro received the Nobel Prize for Literature last year, so is really receiving the recognition he deserves as he’s also remembered in the Queen’s birthday honours.
The list is released each year for the Queen’s official birthday, recognising extraordinary people across the UK.
In this year’s list Mary Beard is also recognised with a Damehood, Ken Follet, Jeanette Winterson both receive a CBE and Kate Clanchy also receives an MBE for services to literature and school.
