Romaji (noun)

ro-mu-jee

a system of writing Japanese using the letters of the Latin alphabet.

Romaji is a borrowing of Japanese rōma, “Rome, Roman,” combined with ji, “character.” Japanese ji can also be found in emoji, kanji.
