Ebenezer Scrooge aside, The Grinch is possibly the best known Christmas character of all and he’s often misunderstood! The Grinch isn’t anti-Christmas, he’s anti-commercialism and we could learn a lot from his tale. That’s why today, our advent calendar is dedicated to the miserable green fellow from How the Grinch Stole Christmas!
Dr Seuss is one of my favourite children’s author and you can find some great messages in all his books, but today we’re sharing a little Grinch wisdom with you. Enjoy!
And the Grinch, with his Grinch feet ice-cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling.
“How could it be so?” It came without ribbons! It came without tags! It came without packages, boxes or bags!”
He puzzled and puzzed until his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before.
Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more!
I adore the Grinch, what’s not to love? We watch him grow and understand the true meaning of Christmas, of love and family and that’s what makes it the perfect Christmas book at any age.
We hope you have a very wonderful Christmas and we hope you enjoyed the advent calendar today. We’re sharing a festive snippet, poem or excerpt from literature every day until Christmas and there’s lots left to come!
We’ll be back tomorrow with another festive snippet for our advent calendar!
