October is here and the Autumn is in full swing. The months seem to fly by here at For Reading Addicts and with each month there are new books to be read. To give you a chance to get to know us, we put together our admin reads each month! As you know, this month we have a new writer, Thom on board and so we have a new set of admin reads too!

We love hearing what you have been reading in our Hit of the Lits each month, but today here are our reads, the books we have loved and hated over the past few weeks.

Kath

As you all know, I finished last month on Shantaram and I wasn’t very far in. It’s a hefty 932 pages and it’s taken me most of the month to get through, and was well worth the effort! Review to follow.

I’ve had Caitlin Moran’s How to be a Woman on my TBR for a while now and after loving How to Build a Girl I was looking forward to it. This is almost 300 pages of feminist ranting and it’s hilarious! It’s one of those books all women will read and nod along to, laughing, but all men should read. Review to follow.

And just last night I picked up a light and breezy Cecilia Ahern, How to Fall in Love has been on the pile for a month now and I really fancy something bubble-gummy and easy to read. I’ve only just started but she’s never written anything I dislike yet so I’m sure I’ll love it.

My pick this month is Nobody Told Me by Hollie McNish. My sister bought me a copy for my graduation and had Hollie sign it with a message! Luckily as well as being a great gift it is a brilliant read too. Hollie writes so honestly and with real emotion at times that it’s one of those laugh/cry/laugh reads. I’m halfway through and am really enjoying the poetry and Hollie’s musings on childbirth and being ‘mum’.

Gone Girl, the first complete book I have read since Ove. It took lots of stops and starts and almost a fortnight but I finished it. After reading so many people’s irritated reactions to the ending I expected to be furious and throw the book across the room but no; the end was perfect and deserved.

I’m now reading Rick Riordan’s The Lost Hero (Heroes of Olympus Book 1) and loving it. I know he’s YA but his characters are so rounded and it’s Greek mythology; what’s not to love?

Thom

I’ve been reading the first book in Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series. The Gunslinger is actually the first Stephen King book I’ve ever read (to my shame!) and I’m loving it. I love King’s writing style and, as I read, I really feel like I’m in the world of The Dark Tower. King’s writing is concise and to the point, but still oozing with atmosphere. I’m almost at the end and haven’t been this into a series since I began Game of Thrones!

So that’s another month from us! See you next month.
