First Folio of Shakespeare Found on Scottish Island

By April 7, 2016Video

A copy of the extremely rare First Folio of Shakespeare has been found in a stately home on the Island of Bute; this particular copy of the first collected edition of Shakespeare’s plays which was published in 1623, was found at Mount Stuart House on the Isle of Bute.

There is thought to be only 230 copies of Shakespeare’s First Folio still in existence and this one which was authenticated by academics is the first one to be discovered in two years.

The Folio which is bound in goatskin is to go on display at the stately home where it was discovered with plenty of security one would hope as a copy owned by Oxford University sold for £3.5m in 2003.
